Project idea

In this project we will be implementing Dick Lyon's latest digital cochlear model on an FPGA. The model consists of a Cascade of Asymmetric Resonators that model the frequency tuning of the Basilar Membrane. Each section also contains models of the Inner Hair Cells (generating the output signals for each section) and Outer Hair Cells (providing fast acting compression). Also, we are attempting to solve the cocktail party problem in real time using this Cochlea model as a front-end block.

Dick is writing a book on this, but otherwise it hasn't been published much. We have published an ISCAS paper on this just recently, which I have uploaded below.
